The past year has been really busy and tiring for me so I decided to take some time off. South Africa has been amazing! I went on safari for 3 days in Kruger National park and saw all kinds of wild animals. I even saw a pride of 8 lions catch and kill a deer. It was very difficult to watch, almost cruel but this is the way of nature. Lions must kill to eat and I feel very priveledged to have witnessed that. I also helped put out a very large grass fire that started where I was staying. I t was so scary and dangerous witht the flames somtimes shooting up 10 feet and covering an area the size of Kowloon Park! All we had were leafy branches and wet blamkets to beat the fire out. Eventually me and maybe a hundred others helped to stop the fire. Although it was very very dangerous at times it was a really exhilarating experience knowing that I could help. Anyway, being here in Africa and being in the great outdoors has relieved so much of my stress and uplifted my spirits. Come back to my blog soon when I have had the chance to download alll my photos from Africa! |

It was our first show and it would have been nice to have had more time to prepare but it turned out to be ok! I had a lot of fun and so did everyone there. I wasn?t expecting all theother singers to come down to watch, but people like Eason and Edmond were giving us advice backstage and it helped! Thanks to all hose who came down to support our debut performance! Now I?m really excited for our Taiwan and Shanghai shows. ___ 哇! |

So sick in fact I was hospitalized for two days! I actually had to get special permission to leave the hospital just to make the HK premiere, then I rushed back into the hospital without even seeing the movie. I finally got out today and it was such a great feeling to be free again!!!!! I was getting worried that I wasn't going to be able to make our Taiwan show. Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know that I'm fine and will see you all in Taipei! Take care and stay healthy!!!

We were asked to help out and do a promotional show for TVB to help introduce Disneyland to the local HK people. There was no pay for this job but ALIVE and the rest of the JC Group artistes decided to do it because we thought it would be fun and we wanted to help out. Now we all regret doing it. The work was not difficult BUT the Disney staff (specifically the ones from America) were very rude and impolite. They spoke disrepectfully to us and were constantly nagging the camera crew. We all thought this was a terrible attitude to have since we were all there working to help promote Disneyland for free! They didn't have to treat us like superstars but they could have at least treated us with some courtesy and respect. (Note to you American Disney staff: I know you may not want to be here in Hong Kong and I know it's a different and maybe sometimes difficult culture BUT this is your job, if you don't like it go back home. So please get off your highhorse and adjust the attitude! AND if you are going to talk down to someone...at least look them in the eyes when you do it.) Because of this experience, we at ALIVE have decided to boycott Disneyland for good. We will not be going to Disneyland EVER again. We are not saying you shouldn't go but if you do, watch out for the pale skin staff they will try and talk to you as if you're stupid! Peace Out!

Anyway, from looking at your comments you guys seem to have good discussions going on so I won't interfere. Can you guys do me one favor though? Try and keep the swear words down because there are a lot of really young kids surfing the site as well. The Shanghai show was a blast. It was nice to be able to go back to perform for my peeps! We all had a lot of fun and stuffed ourselves silly on the awesome Shanghainese food. Anyone like hairy crab? Thanks again to Channel V for hooking us up. We’ll take Channel V over TVB any day. I'm actually In Beijing now doing some prep work for my new movie, "Ye Yin" or "Death Banquet". I am really excited about this movie because we've got a really great team. The director is Feng Xiao Gang who did films like "Cell Phone", "Big Shots Funeral", "A World Without Thieves". We also have Oscar winners Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) as art director and Tan Dun(Crouching Tiger)on music as well as Yuen Woo Ping (Matrix)doing the action choreography. The cast will include myself, Ge You, Zhou Xun and Zhang Ziyi. This will be my first China production and I’m the only Hong Kong actor in the cast, it should be really fun!! Production starts the end of this month. AS for ALIVE, we will be releasing second song, Gei NI Ai, very soon. So be ready to download that and tell us what you think! I will also be putting a song up from a very cool Beijing band soon as well. So check it all out. Ok, it’s dinner time…later! It was a crazy fun summer working on our ALIVE project and I wanna thank you all for coming to this site and supporting the project. This has been the one of my more memorable summers thanks to the Alive crew and you crazy fans out there. Honestly, I wasn't expecting things to be successful so quickly, so a little reorganization is in order on our part. Although we are taking a break in terms of public appearances, Terence is busy masterminding our future plans, so look out for even better stuff to come! Don't worry though, we will still be on this site and will be updating as frequently as before. Also, thanks for those of you who have waited ever so patiently for your orders. Everything is all squared away now and you should be getting your T-shirts soon if you haven't already. Speaking of which, I am really looking forward to our new hats that should be available soon. I saw the sample and it looks pretty cool. I'm in Beijing now and will be for the next three months working on my new movie "Ye Yan". It's so much fun! I will post a couple sneak preview photos in the next couple of weeks. I am having a great time on this project so far. I have been doing a lot of action the past couple of weeks and boy am I tired! Also it's just starting to get cold up here which makes shooting a bit uncomfortable. We have a few scenes in the snow coming up and I can honestly say I am not looking forward to that. But I prefer the cold over the hot and humid HK summers any day. I have a bunch of photos and will post them up when I get a card reader (forgot to bring mine). So here's my question for you guys...What are your top five favorite films? I actually don't have a TOP five but here are five films I can watch over and over no problem (In no particular order): 1. Resovoir Dogs 2. A Clockwork Orange 3. Breakfast Club 4. Once Upon A TIme in China (Wong Fei Hong) 5. Napolean Dynamite Just want to see what kinds of movies you all are into.

Anyway, not to brag but I'm actually quite a good cook. I akin my style to Jamie Oliver, in fact he has greatly influenced the way I cook. He's got awesome cooking style. When I do get to catch him on tv I'm always making mental notes. After all these years of cooking though, I've always had a problem and I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions: Last week, I was frying up some bacon and a huge glob of oil jumped out of the pan and landed on my fingers. It was actually a pretty bad burn that hurt like a mofo!! My fingers are not looking too good right now. (I was gonna post a pic but didn't want to make everyone sick). Although this is probably the worst case, hot oil splattering on my hands has been a consistent annoyance to me while cooking. Does anyone know how to avoid this without having to wear gloves? |

Submitted by daniel on Wed, 2006-03-22 05:20. ___ Yesterday morning I was rudely awakened by a phone call from my management telling me that a certain "trash" magazine had released photos taken of me inside my apartment. When I finally saw them, I was shocked and horrified to find that these paparazzi had been staked-out outside my house for several days and monitoring my every move. They chose to print the most distasteful selection of photos of my girlfriend and I and of course accompanied it with extremely low class writing to go with. I was especially appalled by what they wrote about Lisa. Why do these "trash" magazines feel they need to constantly demean women in this way? I am not the first person this has happened to and I will most likely not be the last, but this kind of gross invasion of privacy must be stopped. Why must the Hong Kong media behave in such ways? Why must they do everything possible to make public personalities live in constant fear and paranoia? Even in other parts of the world, where the paparazzi are known to be more menacing than Hong Kong, these kind of photos are not allowed to go to press simply because there are laws protecting people from this. Why don't these laws exist in Hong Kong? People know that I am quite an easygoing guy. I understand that I am a public figure and that I am target to public scrutiny, that is why in the past when I am "outside" in the public, I make an effort to be nice to the paparazzi and have never expressed anger or ill will towards them. It's their job and their right to do what they do, however, I do not believe that I should be fearful of being watched in my own home, in fact, no one should regardless if they are public personality or not. This said, I don't blame the paparazzi. It's not really their fault. The fault is of the magazines, their editors and their bosses. They are the ones that allow this to happen. They are the ones lowering society's standards. They are the big boss drug dealers who could care less about hurting people and the world they live in. There is no other country in the world where gossip magazines out number newspapers and regular magazines besides Hong Kong. What does that say about Hong Kong? These magazines are the ugly "monsters" of the media industry and of our society. I think it is time that we make a stand against these "monsters". This will be a difficult battle because these "monsters" are corporations with plenty of money and power and connections and can easily fight off us individual victims. However, if you believe in the story of David and Goliath, then this battle can be won and they only way we can win this, is if we band together and express our outrage and try to have some form of government policy made. Also to you fans and members of the public, if you can at all understand what this puts artistes through and you feel any sense of compassion for us, I please beg you to STOP buying these "trash" magazines because demand for this junk is what feeds the monster, if you don't buy them, then they can't be supported. Advertisers: Think clearly before you advertise with these "trash" magazines. Do you really want your product associated with so much garbage? I have already stopped working with these magazines a long time ago, so you won't find any "real" information about me in them anyway. I have also decided I will reject any advertising campaigns that insist on advertising with these magazines. I have received a tremendous amount of support from my company, my close friends and family on this matter. All three of the ALIVE boys called me individually yesterday to lend me their support. I was extremely touched by the fact that they were able to put away our recent troubles (which were blown out of proportion by the media, of course.) and able to rally together to support me on this issue. "Don't mess with the ALIVE family" is the message that I felt from them. In fact at one point yesterday I was thinking about moving out of Hong Kong entirely but Terence calmed me down and suggested I write this blog to vent my frustrations instead. It is times like these when you know the true colors of your friends and I am glad to say that each and everyone is standing by my side. The other night at the Hong Kong Entertainment Expo, Maggie Cheung received an award for her accomplishments in the film industry. For her speech, instead on just the regular kudos, she actually dedicated her speech to plead with the Hong Kong media to "stop stomping on our own industry and our own people" because if they don't ,there will no longer be a next generation to fill the ranks. It was brave and bold of her to reach out and take action. Her speech and what has happened to me has made me decide to make a bigger effort on this front. I hope that you will all support me on this mission. Thank you for reading. Daniel |
